Empowerment Drive: Beneficiaries Laud Mrs Buhari

BY EDMOND ODOK, ABUJA – For touching and changing their lives with sustainable livelihood means, beneficiaries of the Future Assured women and youth empowerment programme in Taraba state are full of praises for the wife of Mr President, Mrs Aisha Muhammadu Buhari.

It was all excitement as the programme beneficiaries throng the indoor hall of the Jolly Nyame Stadium, Jalingo stadium on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 for their empowerment and passing out ceremony.

The Future Assured empowerment programme, initiated to aid poverty reduction among women and children, involves skills acquisition training; start-off support after training; expansion support for existing small time businesses; and provision of materials like Keke NAPEP for trainees on their graduation.

Speaking at the occasion, Mrs Buhari said the support of women and youth remains the backbone of President Buhari’s administration, therefore showing appreciation regularly has become imperative.

She said the Future Assured initiative will not renege on its commitment to continuously empower the women and youth as part of its contributions to support government’s efforts at employment generation and job creation across the country.

“I am distributing Keke NAPEP, sewing machines and spaghetti spiralizers for those at the lowest rung of the ladder to enable them start off and live normal lives. I am also supporting small time businesses with cash to enable them expand,” She said.

Represented at the event by Hon. Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, Mrs Buhari urged the beneficiaries to fully utilized the items and not part with them even under pressure.

According to her, by being faithful in managing their small beginnings, they will receive bountiful results in future for the betterment of themselves, their families and communities.

Also in his remarks at the event, former Deputy Governor of Taraba State, Alhaji Uba Maigari Ahmadu commended the effort of Mrs. Buhari for supporting the ideals of the Federal Government to reduce poverty across the country.

Another dignitary at the occasion, Senator Joel Ekenya called on well-meaning Nigerians and corporate bodies to emulate Mrs. Buhari’s kind gesture by reaching out to the under-privileged and unemployed Nigerians.

A statement by Suleiman Haruna, Director of Information to Wife of the President, State Hous said the event attracted many groups within Taraba state, whose members were the major beneficiaries of the empowerment programme.
