#EndBadGovernance Protests: Court Grants Malnourished Minors N670m Bail
A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Friday, November 1, 2024, granted bail to 67 malnourished minors among the 76 individuals detained following the August 2024 #EndBadGovernance nationwide protest.
The Court presided over by Justice Obiora Egwuatu, granted each of minor a N10 million bail, with the condition that they must present one surety, who must be a civil servant.
The minors believed to be under the age of 15, were been held in connection with the #EndBadGovenance protest in August, which was organized against the growing insecurity and excruciating economic difficulties facing Nigerians.
This was as another group of 87 adults linked to the same protest is also arraigned on similar charges.
The group of the 76 detained #EndBadGovernance protesters arrived the Federal High Court, Abuja, where they were taken to for arraignment before Justice Obiora Egwuatu.
Most of the protesters, mainly minors, looked visibly malnourished, with some requiring immediate assistance having collapsed in court.
The detained minors were arrested during nationwide protests from August 1 to 10, as a result of the biting economic hardship.
Among the charges preferred against them were treason and other serious offenses.
The minors were arrested in different parts of the country that included; Abuja, Kaduna, Gombe, Jos, Katsina, and Kano
