BY VICTOR BUORO, ABUJA – The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu, has expressed the disapproval of the Force Management Team on the purported legal suit challenging the legality of the States’ Judicial Panel of Inquiry, probing allegations by citizens against officers of the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
Accordingly, the IGP has directed for a thorough investigations into the purported suit allegedly filed by the Nigeria Police.
The development followed the trending reports in the media of the Nigeria Police challenging the rights of state government to probe the activities of the defunct SARS.
The Police boss therefore ordered investigations into the alleged role of the Force Legal Section including its Head. This is just as the Force Legal Officer has been queried and may face further sanctions if found guilty of dereliction of duty.
The IGP reiterated the commitment of the Nigeria Police to fulfilling all its obligations with regards to the disbandment of the defunct SARS, the ongoing Judicial Panels and all other police reforms.
