Ex-Housemaid Reveals How She Led Boys To Kill FUT, Minna Lecturer
A former housemaid to Professor Funmilola Adefolalu, the murdered lecturer with the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Joy Afekafe, has given graphic details of how she arranged with two young men and got her former employer killed in the most brutal manner.
Afekafe, who said she was relieved of her job by the late Professor Adefolalu following her misbehaviour, told the police shortly after her arrest that she actually surveyed and studied the area to know the possible time to carry out the evil plan.
This was corroborated by the neighbours of late Prof Adefolalu, who said that they saw the young Joy Afekafe loitering around the neighbourhood with two young men late on Saturday, being the eve of the Sunday that the lecturer was murdered.
Expressing shock about that the news of the Professor’s death, the neighbours admitted being taken aback because her usually loud dog that did not bark throughout the night.
The prime suspect, Joy Afekafe confessed that she went into the late Professor Adefolalu’s apartment through the widow and thinking that her former housemaid may have come into the house to beg for forgiveness and be allowed to carry on with her job, she did not suspect the evil plan hatched against her.
Joy Afekafe did not stop there as she made bold move to actualise her evil plan of eliminating her previous employer as she quickly let in her two male friends, who proceeded to club and stab the University lecturer to death.
As if that was not enough, the three criminals stole from Prof Adefolalu’s home before they bolted.
Luck however ran out on them as the police extended their dragnet and nabbed Joy Afekafe, who is now helping in investigations by giving blow by blow account of how she hatched her evil plan and effectively executed it.
It was gathered that the husband of the murdered Professor Adefolalu died some years ago after he transferred his services to another federal university in the South West.
Joy Afekafe, who lives in Gbeganu community in Minna, according to a statement by the Police Command in Niger State, only served the late Professor Adefolalu as housemaid for only three weeks.
The Police statement signed by its spokesman, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, said shortly after Miss Afekafe was laid off, she quickly moved and met her classmates namely; Walex and Smart whom she narrated her ordeal to them.
According to the Police; “During interrogation, Joy Afekafe said they went to the residence of the late University lecturer on 28/10/2023 at about 1600hrs, with a motorcycle and she surfaced at the gate, while the lecturer opened the gate for her.
“Walex and Smart later entered, beat the deceased, hit her head with a stool and stabbed her with a knife brought by Walex while Smart took another knife from the kitchen, and stabbed her severally.
“Joy Afekafe confessed that she served as the deceased’s housemaid for only about three weeks and she was laid off due to her misdeed in the house”.
The police further said the prime suspect also confessed to stealing the phone and laptop of Professor Adefolalu, in addition to the battery of the vehicle parked in her compound, before they fled the scene of the crime.
