BY BABA AHMED, LAFIA – The exclusion of President Muhammadu Buhari’s name in the Nasarawa State All Progressives Congress (APC), Campaign Batch has set members of the party on collision course in the state.
This was as members of the APC in the state expressed shock over the name of the Party’s campaign team tagged as “APC Gubernatorial Campaign Council for the 2019 general elections in the state.

However, the name of President Buhari and other aspirants on the platform of the APC are conspicuously absent on the list thereby creating suspicion of alienation in the minds of some members of the APC in the state.
The 58 member list also generated serious tension among major stakeholders over the process followed in nominations, hierarchy which is threatening the unity of the party in the state.
Some of the stakeholders are therefore calling for a review of the list and the name tag to avoid serious setbacks that might befall the party during the 2019 general elections in the state.
Some of the stakeholders are of the view that the campaign team is deliberately tailored towards campaigning for only the state governorship candidate, Engr. Abdullahi Sule without factoring President Buhari and other APC candidates in the state into the equation.
The campaign team which is divided into two structure “Board of Trustees and Campaign Directorate has create serious division between and within members who are now desirous of plotting to set up different campaign team at their level to campaign for only their candidates and specific offices of the party.
Forefront News gathered that some members of the APC in the State are not happy with the structure of the team where people outside government are appointed into major offices while serving government officials are made just ordinary members.
The list signed by Wuduyamba Agidi , Nasarawa State Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the APC which was obtained by Forefront News, shows that Governor Umaru Tanko Al-makura is the chairman of the Board of Trustees with Senator Abubakar Sodangi as deputy chairman of the 21 member campaign trustees
However, former governor of the State, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, Deputy Governor Silas Agara, the State Party chairman, Secretary, and all other aspirants, who contested for governorship primaries in the state are only members of the team.
In the same vein, the Campaign Directorate which has 37 members has Senator John Danboyi as Director General with Hon Ahmed Wadada as Chairman with six other directors.
