Explosion Rocks Abuja Islamiyyah School
An explosion suspected to be a bomb on Monday, January 6, 2025, rocked an Islamiyyah school in the Kuchibiyu Community of Bwari Area Council, Abuja.
The explosion which occurred at about 12:00pm, killed a student and injured four others.
The thunderous explosion Forefront News gathered, sent shockwaves through the quiet community located approximately 42 kilometres from the nation’s capital city centre.
Emergency response teams that included the police Bomb Disposal Squad arrived at the scene in good time and the injured quickly rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.
It was further gathered from a security source that the deceased student, whose identity could not immediately be confirmed as of press time, was allegedly carrying a substance suspected to be an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) when it detonated.
Accordingly, the explosion caused injuries to other students and created widespread panic in and around the school premises.
Authorities at the school were unavailable for comment just as the Police Command in the FCT is yet to issue an official statement on the unfortunate development as of press time.
The affected students were said to have resumed school just three days ago, on Friday, January 3, 2024.
