FA Cup: Iheanacho Gifts Leicester First Final Ticket In 52 Years
- It’s Leicester 1 vs Southampton 0
- Get May 15 date with Chelsea at Wembley

A moment of brilliance by impressive Kelechi Iheanacho was all that Leicester City needed to book their first FA Cup final appearance since 1969
Peep peep! And the Brendan Rodgers’ men made it into the finals of world’s oldest football competition with a 1-0 victory over Southampton for the first time in 52 years
The masterly delivery of the Nigerian international’s second-half goal, his 10th in the last seven games, settled a cagey match at Wembley. There wasn’t much in the encounter and the goal was the only shot on target.
However, Leicester did enough more penetration in attack to carry the day with their usually so reserved Manager Rodgers beaming as he embraced his players in appreciation of a lovely reward for the exceptional work he has done in two years with the King Power stadium landlords
The soft spoken manager has been a class act so far and certainly deserves the reward of an FA Cup final for the season even as the battle for next season’s Champions League is still on course.
Though Southampton worked very hard in the game, they seemingly ran out of ideas after about 70 minutes. The result presents Leicester the opportunity of facing Chelsea at Wembley on 15 May, 2021 with the chance to win the competition for the first time in their history.
In his post match comments, Iheanacho said; “We did it together, the team. It’s not a one-man show. I’m happy with the way we stuck together and that I was in the right place at the right time The partnership between Jamie and me is outstanding – he’s got the pace, he’s got everything. He’s a great player and he set up the goal. I think the FA Cup loves me, and I love the FA Cup!
“I’ve been unlucky the past few years, but it’s working out really well now and I need to keep working hard to go to the next level. I can’t wait for the final – wow, it’ll be amazing.” – With Agency reports
