FA Cup Quarter-finals: Man United Eye On Another Trophy Haul

BY VICTOR OSOWOCHI – Still smarting from their Cabarao Cup triumph after six years’ wait for silverware, Manchester United are again looking forward to another trophy haul this season.
Thanks to their 3-1 victory over West Ham United, the Erik Ten Hag men are now safely in the FA Cup quarter-final round with a date against fellow Premiership side, Fulham at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils, who had to battle from one goal down to beat the stubborn Hammers, have eternal rivals, Pep Guardiola-tutored Manchester City to contend with if they lay their hands on this year’s Emirate FA Cup
Also into the last-eight rounds are Manchester City who will host club legend Vincent Kompany’s Burnley team; Brighton & Hove Albion, who got a draw that on paper looks favourable, has a scheduled home game against EFL League Two Side, Grimsby Town while Sheffield United will host fellow EFL Championship club, Blackburn Rovers to complete the FA Cup quarter-final pairings.
Manchester City progressed in the competition by beating Bristol City 3-0, Brighton ran out 1-0 winners over Stoke City, while Sheffield United recorded a shocking 1-0 victory over Premiership club, Tottenham Hotspur.
On their part, Conference League side, Grimsby Town stunned bookmakers with a magical 2-1 win over another Premiership team, Southampton to book the quarter-final ticket.
As the oldest cup competition in football and boasting of an allure that is sharpened by the prospect of ‘giant killings’, the FA Cup is currently in its 142nd edition.
With all the quarter-finalists fancying their shot at silverware in the 2022-23 season, the ‘magic’ of the Emirates FA Cup lies in the fact that any team can beat another on the day as some of the best players in the world go on parade between March 17 and 19, 2023
