Families Mourn As Accident Claims Groom, Friends Moments Before Wedding

Family members, friends and well-wishers were thrown into mourning spree as a groom and two of his friends lost their lives in a car accident just moments before his wedding ceremony.

Close family sources said the day that was set for celebration suddenly turned tragic in Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State as the unfortunate news filtered into the venue where many people had already gathered to witness the memorable event.

According to reports, the incident, which occurred on Saturday, involved Superintendent of Police (SP) Mustapha Garba Gumau, who was reportedly enroute Magaman-Gumau for his wedding fatiha scheduled at 10:00 am.

It was further gathered that the now deceased Senior Police officer had left from his base in Gumau heading to the wedding venue when the accident occurred around 9:00 am at Bargan Tsamiya village in the local government area.

Eyewitnesses said the vehicle carrying the groom and his friends veered off the road and crashed, killing him and two others, Shuaibu Umar and Sulaiman Musa, on the spot.

In the process, some other passengers sustained varying degrees of injuries and had to be rushed to near-by clinics for urgent medical attention.

One of the eyewitnesses close to the distraught bride’s family disclosed the tragic news suddenly left the communities of Gumau and Magaman-Gumau awe-stricken as their expected joyous moment instantly turned into a sorrowful occasion.

Meanwhile, efforts to contact the Bauchi Police Command’s Spokesperson, Mohammed Wakil, to confirm the unfortunate incident failed to yield positive result as of press time as his line repeatedly delivered the unavailable tune.
