…Urges hope and sober reflection

Former Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF) and immediate past Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi has called on Nigerians to embrace the profound meaning of Christmas, which symbolises hope, love, peace, and sacrifice, saying that they are timeless values that resonate with everyone.

Fayemi, who made the call while extending warm greetings to Nigerians as they celebrate Christmas and prepare to usher in the New Year, acknowledged the economic and social challenges facing the country today.

Fayemi, in a statement by the head of the Fayemi Media Office, Mallam Ahmad Sajoh, however noted that Nigeria has repeatedly demonstrated the capacity to endure and rise stronger through collective resolve.

According to him; “While we cannot deny the reality of the challenges before us, we must also not surrender our faith in the future of our country.

“Moments like Christmas remind us that even in times of uncertainty, hope can be renewed, and light can emerge from darkness,” he said.

Fayemi also called on Nigerians to embrace sober and responsible celebrations, mindful of prevailing economic realities and the need to show solidarity with the less privileged.

While reflecting on the deeper meaning of Christmas, Fayemi described it as a celebration of love, sacrifice, humility, and compassion, values which resonate deeply with Nigeria’s cultural and communal traditions.

Fayemi further said; “Christmas is not merely a season of merrymaking. It has profound spiritual significance, representing hope, the promise of salvation, and the ultimate sacrifice of love.

“As we celebrate, let us reflect on these values and how they can be applied to rebuild the social fabric of our dear nation. We may be in a difficult season, but we are not a hopeless people.

“As we transition into the New Year, let us carry with us a spirit of determination. I am confident that with collective effort and the enduring grace of God, Nigeria will emerge stronger and more prosperous,” he said.

The former Governor of Ekiti State wished Nigerians a peaceful Christmas and a productive, secure, and flourishing New Year.
