The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and some of the officials of the FCT Administration (FCTA) on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 engaged in a near fisticuffs with military personnel in Abuja over a plot of land.

A trending video on social media showed that the FCT Minister got involved in heated altercation with an officer who led a team of soldiers to keep watch over a fenced plot of land in the Gaduwa district of the Nation’s capital.

In spite of some offensive languages used by Wike against the military officer, the young officer refused to bulge and merely responded that he was acting on directive.

The development later degenerated into high tension as the team of soldiers professionally blocked Nyesom Wike and his officials from gaining access to the land in question.

A furious FCT minister, who felt his ego badly bruised, started shouting on top of his voice and called the military officer “fool”, but the soldiers stood their ground.

Wike pointed directly at the face of the officer and said to him; “You are a fool”.

But, the officer responded calmly, saying; “I am not a fool.”

Wike then asked the soldiers to stop blocking the FCTA officials, stating that they didn’t have documents for the property, but officer leading the team of soldiers insisted that he was following instructions.

Wike retorted again saying; “Shut up, keep quiet, you are a fool. As at the time I graduated, you were still in primary school.

“You send soldiers to intimidate who? We are all from this country. If not for the CDS who spoke to me now, you would have to kill everybody here. I’m not one of those that you can intimidate,” Wike boasted.

The Media aide to the FCT Minister, Lere Olayinka later posted on his verified official Facebook page that the owner of the plot was told to stop building on a land he has no title documents and building approval on.

According to Olayinka; “Because he was told to stop building on a land he has no title document and building approval, former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo, sent his armed military security details to attack men of the FCTA Department of Development Control.

“He also stationed armed military men to protect the illegal development, with the military men threatening to shoot anyone who interfered with them.

“Today, the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, visited the site after talking to the Chief of Defence Staff on the phone,” he said.
