Finally, Buhari Sacks Babachir Lawal, Appoints Boss Mustapha As SGF

…NIA boss, Ayo Oke also affected

BY AMOS DUNIA, ABUJA – President Muhammadu Buhari has announced the appointment of Mr Boss Mustapha as the new Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

The appointment takes immediate effect with Mustapha already sworn-in by the President.

The appointment of Adamawa State-born Mustapha followed the approval of the report submitted by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) – chaired panel, which investigated allegations of corruption against the former SGF, Mr Babachir David Lawal, and the suspended Director General, National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Ayo Oke. 

A statement by Mr. Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity said the President accepted the recommendations of the panel to terminate the appointment of Mr Lawal.

He also said that President Buhari similarly approved the recommendation to terminate the appointment of Ambassador Oke.

Adesina said the President has further approved the setting up of a three-member panel to, among other things, look into the operational, technical and administrative structure of the Agency and make appropriate recommendations for its effective mandate delivery
