The kidnapped mother of embattled former Super Eagles Coach, Samson Siasia has been finally released by her abductors

Sources close to the Bayelsa State Police Command said that Mrs Beauty Ogere Siasia was released early on Sunday morning after almost two months in the kidnappers’ den.

Mrs Siasia was kidnapped on July 15, 2019 by heavily armed gunmen in her Odoni country home, Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

A member of the family, Eworikumo Siasia, said the 80-year-old woman was freed on Sunday morning by her abductors and that she is currently with family members at their country home.

It was the second time in four years that Madam Siasia would be whisked away by kidnappers

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Asinim Butswat, a Superintendent of Police, the State police command would issue an official statement later.

Coach Siasia, who was recently handed a controversial life ban by World football governing body, FIFA, for alleged match-fixing offences, had constantly pleaded with the kidnappers to release his mother.

The former Nigerian international stated that he did not have the huge amount of money the kidnappers were demanding.

Reports indicated that the family recently paid N1.5 million ransom to the abductors who refused to release the octogenarian few weeks ago, rather they released a family member who was abducted along with her. – NAN
