Firm Plans Private Sports University In Nasarawa
BY AHMED TUKUR, LAFIA – A private firm, Discount Business Bureau (DBB) is proposing to establish a private Sports University in Naasrawa State as part of grassroot sports development programme in the country
When approved, the institution will be sited in Keffi Local Government Area of the state as proposed by the Bureau in its letter dated March 13, 2020 and addressed to Governor Abdullahi A Sule.
The letter, signed by the Company’s Managing Director, Mohammed Bashar and titled: “Proposal to establish Sports University in Nasarawa State”, said the idea is to promote sports in the state and the country while also creating employment opportunities for Nigerians, especially indigenes of Nasarawa State.
Confirming the development, Nasarawa State Commissioner for Sports and Youth development, Othman Bala Boss, said government is ready to assist individuals and organizations to invest in the state.
Othman said the present administration is investor-friendly and ready to open its doors for partnership with individuals and organisations towards bringing development to the state
“There are several proposals on my table and the proposed University is part of them. Be assured that government is ever ready to provide the enabling environment to attract investors to the state”
The University, expected to be the first in Africa, is to compliment government efforts in sports development, especially in the area of training sports men and women, including coaches.
