FIRS Staff Applaud Executive Chairman Adedeji For Bumper Welfare Packages

The joyful staff of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) on Thursday, 5th December 2024, created a spectacle as they turned out in numbers to celebrate and appreciate the Service’s Executive Chairman, Zacch Adedeji for giving priority attention to their welfare since assuming office.

Assembling at the Agency’s headquarters along Sokode Crescent, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja, the nation’s capital, as early as 8 a.m., the workers exuded warmth, praising their boss for creating numerous incentives to boost morale and make the work environment conducive for them.

The placards-carrying staff were upbeat in singing appreciative songs, dancing, and gyrating to the melodious tunes. Further amplifying the good deeds of the man they popularly called “The Welfare Master”, some of the appreciative inscriptions on the placards read; “We love you Zacch”; “You’re a man of the People”; “May God Continue to bless you Dr Zach”; “We support you”; and “Dr Zach is a Good Leader” among many others.

Arriving at the premises, a surprised FIRS Chairman was jubilantly led to his office in a carnival-like procession by the workers who had braved the harsh Abuja sun to celebrate him with an array of gift items.

Capturing the beautiful scenario in a statement released to journalists, Sikiru Akinola, Technical Assistant (Print Media) to the FIRS boss, quoted the staff members as saying that Adedeji has “proven himself as a staff welfare-minded administrator”.

The statement also stated that FIRS staff were excited over the welfare packages extended to them by the Adedeji-led management, especially the salary increment to cushion the current economic situation

Furthermore, the statement quoted one of the staff members as saying; “Being someone who is deliberate, Zacch Adedeji Ph.D is always concerned and mindful of those around him and people whose paths have crossed with him.

“He is our boss and our friend. We all can attest to that. So, we decided to gather today to appreciate him. This is something he had avoided because we had attempted it on more than two occasions. When the news of the increment was first spread in-house, it was well-received.

“During the first anniversary, the leadership of the staff union openly revealed that this is the first time they would sleep with their eyes closed as members don’t have any complaints to warrant a confrontation with the leadership of FIRS.”

Another staff was also quoted as saying; “The Executive Chairman did not even brief many people before increasing staff salary and other welfare packages. He is someone who believes that those who help make sure the audacious target of N19.4 trillion for 2024 is met should also be properly treated to motivate them.

“A few months ago, in what many of us described as unprecedented, he had increased our salary. It was uncommon. This was after many other packages had been introduced. He listens to our yearnings and aspirations”, she said.

It was indeed a red-letter day for Adedeji as most of the staff did not hold back acknowledging that no FIRS Executive Chairman has been so celebrated as Adedeji in just a year and four months of his stewardship, confirming that his magnanimity to staff has been “awesome and unprecedented”.

On this memorable day, it was a grateful FIRS Executive Chairman Adedeji who acknowledged the deafening cheers with a salute to the ecstatic crowd and waved his hands to show appreciation.
