First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu Boosts Financial Position Of 250 Elderly Citizens In Kogi State

The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has boosted the financial standing of 250 elderly persons in Kogi State with two hundred and fifty thousand Naira each as part of the second edition of the Renewed Hope Initiative Elderly Support Scheme (RHIESS).

Senator Tinubu at an elaborate event in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital said that the beneficiaries were selected from the Local Government Areas of the state.

                                                       

The First Lady, who was represented by wife of the Governor of Kogi State, Hajiya Sefinat Ododo, said that the occasion with the theme; “Total Wellness”, was an economic empowerment programme designed to cater for the well-being of elderly citizens from age 60 and above across the country.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu announced that one billion, nine hundred million Naira has so far been disbursed to elderly persons across the country

She also said that free medical check up would be provided to cater for the needs of the elderly even as she urged them to embark on exercises and spend quality time with their loved ones.

In her remarks, the wife of the Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Mrs Margaret Oyibo, applauded the First Lady for the Initiative and appealed to the beneficiaries of to make judicious use of the fund.

                                                       

Speaking in turn, the Director-General, Kogi State Social Investment Agency, Hajiya Oyiza Omade commended Mrs. Tinubu for her concern for the elderly.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs Grace Olushola and Onalo Usman, thanked the wife of the President for the gesture and promised to use the funds to improve their lives.
