BY AMOS DUNIA, ABUJA – Miss Jeenifer Samuel Ukumbong with the Alliance for Internationl Medical Action (ALIMA) and four other aid workers namely Asabe Cletus Musa also of ALIMA, Adamu Auwal Ozeshi, Arthur Ibojekwe Chima both of Solidarity International and George Danbaba Michael of International Organisation for Migration (IOM) were on Wednesday rescued from the captivity of terrorists.

Their rescue, it was gathered was made possible by Operatives of the State Security Service (SSS) and other critical stakeholders that moved on Wednesday evening and successfully freed the five aid workers from the captivity of the terrorists in the North-East geo-political zone of the country.

The aid workers were abducted by the Islamic State West Africa Province also known as ISWAP terrorists on December 22, 2019 along Monguno-Maiduguri Road in Borno State.

It was gathered that the rescue operation involved the operatives of the SSS in collaboration with other critical stakeholders in the military and intelligence services.

Spokesperson of SSS, Dr. Peter Afunaya, who confirmed the story, said the rescued aid workers are in good health and are being debriefed as appropriate.
