Five More Victims Of Abuja-Kaduna Train Attack Released By Terrorists

Terrorists that attacked the Abuja-Kaduna bound train in March 2022 on Tuesday released five out of the remaining 40 of the victims in their captivity.

The terrorists had on March 28, 2022, attacked the Abuja-Kaduna rail line by blowing up the tracks, killing some passengers after which thy abducted about 60 of the passengers and moved them into their den in yet to be identified forest by the nation’s security agencies.

A member of the negotiating team, who is the Media Adviser to Sheikh Abubakar Gumi and publisher of Desert Herald, Mr. Tukur Mamu announced the release of the additional five victims to Journalists on Tuesday, August 2, 2022.

Mamu gave the names of the five released victims as Professor Mustapha Umar Imam, a medical doctor with the Usman Dan Fodio University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto, Sidi Aminu Sharif, Akibu Lawal, Abubakar Ahmed and Mukthar Shu’aibu.

It was gathered that one of the sons of a former military governor of Kano State, Idris Garba, his wife and three children among many others are believed to be among the unfortunate ones still being held by the terrorists in the forest.

Mamu did not however say if any money was paid to the terrorists as ransom before the release of the five victims even as he said that with the release of the five victims, there are 34 others still being held in the forest.

Mamu while confirming that he played a prominent role in the release of the five train victims, however announced his resolve to back out of the negotiations owing to threats on his life, personal integrity and lack of support from the Federal Government.

This is the second time Mamu is announcing his withdrawal from the negotiations for the release of the train passengers abducted by the terrorists.
