BY ABDULWAHEED O. ADUBI, KADUNA – The immediate past chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kaduna State Council, Hajiya Asma’u Yawo Halilu has donated a cow and sachets of Soya oil to over 50 journalists for the scheduled Sallah celebration on Friday, June6, 2025.
Hajiya Asma’u Halilu while fielding questions from journalists on her gesture, said her presentation of the gift items to her colleagues, is in the spirit of Eid-l-Kabir celebration.
She said that one out of her contacts made the donation to her which she in turn decided to extend to her professional colleagues.

According to her; “The economy is not favourable and a lot of people are struggling to make ends meet. So, when the opportunity prevailed itself, I grabbed it because I know that it will put smiles on faces. I pray God continues to replenish the pocket of the donor, whom we truly appreciate.
“While I was in office as Chairman of the Council, he helped us to succeed and even after leaving office, he is still doing great things for journalist through me. I can’t thank him enough. I pray God to continue to bless him greatly,” Asma’u prayed.
The former NUJ, Kaduna Council Chairman said that extending goodwill usually strengthens bond, encourages peaceful coexistence and promotes unity, stressing that it is the reason why she chose to share everything she gets with her colleagues, saying; “there is love in sharing”.
Asma’u Halilu further said; “You could recall during the last Ramadan when eggs were donated to us, we shared it amongst our colleagues and it made them happy”.
She assured of her continuous support to journalists whenever the opportunity avails itself.
