Former NNPC Boss, Engr. Yakubu Bestowed With Excellence In Humanitarian Services Award

BY AMOS TAUNA, ABUJA – The founder, Maryamu and Yakubu Skills Development and Educational Foundation and former Group Managing Director, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Engr. Andrew Yakubu, has been awarded with the 2019 Impact Makers Awards.

The Chairman of the Organising Committee of Who is Who Award, organisers of the award, Arc. Daniel Okpanachi, said the recipients of the Awards were carefully evaluated, investigated and their impacts have been critically reviewed to have merited the prestigious honour by “Who is Who Awards,” Abuja.

Okpanachi explained that this year’s edition amongst others, is indeed one of the best and thanked the entire team and the organising committee for their efforts and inputs to have achieved such fruitful result.

The Maryamu and Yakubu Skills Development and Educational Foundation was Awarded for lifting the lives of over six hundred youth and women in the last three years.

Receiving the award, Engr. Andrew La’ ah Yakubu thanked the organizers for deeming it fit to choose his foundation for the prestigious award.

Yakubu said; “I appreciate the organization of Who Is Who Award 2019, for recognizing us to give us this award. We are an NGO focused on bringing value to the lives of youth and women in the villages. We have a skills development centre, we trained over 600 Youth and Women in the last three years. We have brought IT skills acquisition to the youth in the villages, just in time when the Computer Base Test (CBT) intervention in JAMB and others.

“Prior to this development, the whole place was in darkness as far as ICT skills are concerned. We also focused in adding value to the Agricultural Skills of the villagers. We introduced more impact in commercial farming, away from the conventional farming, and our primary purpose is to continue to add more skills, skills like Welding, plumbing, solar electricity, conventional electricity, major works, among others.

“Our focus like I said, is that all the services rendered above are free of charge to all the youth and women that indicate interest in doing so, and because of that, we welcome donations, we welcome volunteers’ services to add more values to our ventures.

“We dedicate this award to God Almighty. We also dedicate this award to board members and staff of the skills development and particularly, the founding coordinator of the skills centre who works tirelessly to bring us to relevance so far, but it pleased God in January this year to call him back home. We dedicate that to him and dedicate the award to also about 600 beneficiaries of this ventures.”

The prestigious award of “Who is Who Awards” which took place in Abuja was indeed a record breaking occasion in the history of the Awards in the country. The award recognised the impacts and contributions of prominent leaders, political actors and distinguished individuals across the several public offices in Nigeria.

Amongst personalities that where recognised with the Impact Makers Award, includes, Former Nigeria President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Former Vice president and presidential candidate of PDP in the 2019 presidential elections, Atiku Abubakar, Engr. Andrew Laah Yakubu Former GMD of NNPC and former Governor of Gombe state, Senator Danjuma Goje.

Other recipients were Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, Delta North Senator-elect Hon Ned Nwoko, Lagos House Of Representatives member and sponsor of Not Too Young To Run Act, Hon. Tony Nwulu, President-elect Institute Of Nigerian Public Relations, Mukhtar Zubairu Sirajo, Engr. Andrew Laah Yakubu Former GMD of NNPC, Special Assistant to The President on Research and Special Projects, Sylverster Imhanobe and Amb. Hussaini Haruna Coomassie.
