Frank Kokori, Ex-Secretary General Of NUPENG, Dies At 80 On His Birthday

Former Secretary General of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), Chief Frank Ovie Kokori, is dead.

Kokori, a pro-June 12, 1993 activist, was an Urhobo, who hailed from Ovu town in Agbon Kingdom of Delta State reportedly died at about 1:30 am on Thursday, December 7, 2023 which coincidentally was his 80th birthday.

The death of Chief Kokori was confirmed by his personal assistant, Atawada Barry Oke, who explained that the late Chief Kokori had been sick for some time after which his health condition deteriorated about a week ago.

Before his death, the late Chief Kokori was placed on oxygen for about a week before his eventual passage in the early hours of Thursday, December 7, 2023 at the Mount Horeb Hospital, Warri, Delta State.

The late Chief Kokori played a leading role in the struggle for the revalidation of June 12, 1993, Presidential Election acclaimed as one of the best elections in Nigeria which was won by the late business mogul turned politician, Chief MKO Abiola and was later incarcerated by the military junta led by late General Sani Abacha.

He was also one of the founding chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
