Fresh CVR Registration Hits 5.17m Mark – INEC
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says fresh registration in the third quarter of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) nationwide stands at about 5,173,335 eligible Nigerian voters.
In its weekly update on CVR for Quarter 3, Week 3, in Abuja on Monday, the Commission also disclosed that 2,665,421 registrants had completed online and physical registration.
According to the updated statistics by the Electoral umpire, the figure comprises 1,344,813 males and 1,320,608 females while 24,723 of the reported figure are Persons Living With Disability (PWDS) and 1,854,371 are youth between the ages of 18 and 34.
Similarly, INEC said of the 2,665,421 persons that completed their registration, 1,092,742 did it online, while 1,572,679 had physical registration, even as the update also revealed that the Commission received about 8,550,561 applications in total.
The breakdown indicated that the total figure includes applications for voter transfer; requests for replacement of Permanent Voter Cards; and updates of voter information records, among others.
For gender distribution, the applications revealed that 4,572,235 are male and 3,978,326 are female, with 87,733 of the applications were from PWDS across all categories. – NAN
