Ganduje Condemns Violence, Attributes Victory To Prayers, Hard Work

BY SALISU IBRAHIM, KANO – Governor Umar Ganduje of Kano State has attributed his victory in the March 23 supplementary elections to prayers and hard work by his dependable campaign team.

He however frown at insinuations in certain quarters claiming the poll’s results were tilted in his favour and the All Progressives Congress (APC) due to alleged massive violence that characterized the exercise.

Addressing APC’s Chairmen from the 44 Local Government Areas in the state that paid him a congratulatory and solidarity visit at the Government House, Kano on Tuesday, Alhaji Ganduje insisted that prayers and hard work by his team gave them victory against the opposition in the State.

According to him; “It was not breach of peace that gave (me) the victory, but hard work and prayers. We prayed and we worked hard. Peace is paramount.”

He however urged APC’s supporters to shun all forms of violence or intimidation of the opposition in the course of their celebrations, maintaining that his administration and the governing party are not at war with the opposition in Kano State.

Assuring that the State government is interested in ensuring peace in Kano, Governor Ganduje said; “We want peace and peace must be given a chance to thrive. We will come up with new governance strategies; all in an effort to consolidate this victory and continue with the good things we started.

“We will continue to do what our people voted us for. That is to further develop all structures of the society.”

He stated that the re-election victory clearly demonstrate the confidence repose in his administration by the Kano people since its inception, adding; “We will, therefore, not let them down.”

The governor, who promised to embrace all opposition groups that supported him before the elections in the new dispensation, said; “We have other opposition parties that came and worked with us before this election. For the development of our state, we are planning to work with them.”
