Popular journalist turned politician and a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dele Momodu has cautioned the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio to watch it and not to presume safety within the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s inner circle.
Momodu, who wrote on his Facebook wall on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 while commenting on the resignation of the Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), urged Akpabio to beware.
In the words of Momodu; “My friend Akpabio should beware… This current power is absolutely for Tinubu, and no one should fool himself”.
He referenced a pattern of political sidelining, citing the fates of Vice President Kashim Shettima and former Lagos governors, including Akinwunmi Ambode.
According to him; “No one is indispensable, and everyone else is expendable whenever it becomes necessary. Governor Ambode was the biggest casualty. Governor Sanwo-Olu merely escaped by the whiskers recently”.
Momodu described Ganduje as a “tragic hero” who took political bullets for President Tinubu by stepping down.
Ganduje resigned last Friday, citing health concerns, but his departure has been widely seen as part of the internal political realignments within the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
He commended Ganduje’s loyalty, saying however that Tinubu’s political machinery may not reward his sacrifice.
According to Momodu; “But, like it happens to all lackeys, his usefulness has expired”.
