BY ABDUL IBRAHIM, KANO – The Kano State Commissioner of Information and Culture, Mallam Muhammad Garba, says the Supreme Court confirmation of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s victory in the March 9, 2019 gubernatorial election is the will of God and the desire of Kano people.
He therefore said it is time for all well meaning and peace loving Kano people to support the Governor in the task of positioning the State for sustainable economic growth and development.
Reacting to Governor Ganduje’s triumph at the nation’s apex court, Garba, a former Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) President, said; “We are most grateful to the Almighty God for this victory.
“This is not the victory for Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje alone, it is a victory for the good people of Kano state.”
According to him, with the legal contestation now over, all hands must be on deck to build the State and move it forward, adding; “We call on the Peoples Democratic Party to maintain peace and accept this verdict in good faith.”

Our correspondent reports that jubilation broke out in the ancient city of Kano on Monday morning as news of Governor Ganduje’s victory at the Supreme Court hit the air waves
The mounting tension and anxiety as many awaited the ruling paled into insignificance with of the most city residents, especially artisans and small business owners, ecstatic following the development
The freezing cold did not stop many gathering in groups to happily discuss and away their relief over Apex Court’s decision on Ganduje.
After losing out at the Election Petition Tribunal and the Court of Appeal, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Abba Kabir Yusuf had approached the Supreme Court seeking to upturn the decisions of the two lower courts.
