Governor Hyacinth Alia has expressed immense joy over the victory of the Government Secondary School (GSS), Gboko female basketball team at the 26th edition of the Nestle Milo Secondary Schools Basketball Championship.
Representing Benue State at the national finals in Lagos, the GSS Gboko girls maintained a stellar, unbeaten record throughout five games, ultimately securing the championship title and bringing the golden trophy home to the state.
A statement by Sir Tersoo Kula, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Benue State, stated that Governor Alia, who closely monitored the team’s progress during the competition, dispatched state officials to receive the champions in Abuja, ensuring their welfare and safe passage back to Benue State.
Governor Alia while expressing his pride in the young athletes and their coaching staff, lauded their dedication to making the state proud and announced that the government has prepared a special package to reward their excellence.
Alia said; “My administration shall continue to support sporting activities to expose and nurture the abundant talents among our youth”.
