Gov Alia Orders Arrest Of Perpetrators Of Killing Of Two Kano Indigenes

The Governor of Benue state, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia on Tuesday, June 242025, condemns in strong terms, the killing of two citizens of Nigeria at Agan settlement by some criminal elements.

The Governor, who described the act as barbaric and unacceptable, directed that the perpetrators must be fished out and brought to justice with immediate effect.

Following his directive, five of the criminals were swiftly apprehended in Makurdi by the Nigeria Police, Benue State command over the incident.

Governor Alia had earlier directived the Commissioner of Police and heads of other security agencies to ensure that criminals who committed the heinous crime are arrested.

Alia was deeply saddened by the deaths of two men identified as indigenes of Kano state who were travelling through the state but were attacked and murdered by criminals.

He said; “Benue people are known for their hospitality and peaceful disposition. We cannot allow some criminal elements to tarnish our image and create a contrary image for our people.

“These criminals MUST be fished out immediately and made to face the full wrath of the law”.

Governor Alia extended his heartfelt condolences to his Kano state counterpart, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf over the tragic and regrettable loss of two of his indigenes.

A statement by Sir Tersoo Kula, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Benue State stated that Governors Alia and Yusuf spoke closely earlier in the day over the unfortunate incident.

Alia appealed for calm and assured the people of Kano State that justice will be served.
