Governor of Anambra state, Chief Willie Obiano has threatened all public officials in the state to shun all acts of corruption or risk facing the full weight of the law.

This is even as the Governor said he will commence regular morning visits to government offices to assess the workers’ level of commitment and dedication to duty.

The Governor said any commissioner, civil servant or government official involved in any form of fraudulent practice will be severely sanctioned and dealt with.

Governor Obiano said his administration has already evolved measures to fish out bad eggs within the administration and sanitize government processes in the State.

A statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Strategic communications, Prince Oliver Okpala in Awka, the Anambra state capital on Tuesday, quoted the Governor as warning that his administration will not shy away from baring its fangs by prosecuting and committing such corrupt officials to prison.

Governor Obiano, who was addressing top government officials, said the administration has mapped out plans and strategies that would impact positively on the lives of Anambra people this year.

He therefore warned that any member of the work force to implement his development agenda found wanting would be swiftly handed over to anti-graft agencies for necessary action.

“Thorough checks and monitoring would be mounted on the activities of serving government officials in order to fish out the corrupt or fraudulent ones for immediate prosecution by ICPC and EFCC”, the statement said

The Governor stated that with his new electoral mandate for the next four years, he would ensure the masses’ welfare receives top priority, stressing that it would not be business as usual.

Calling for a change of attitude by all workers in the state, Governor Obiano promised to work harder in this second term to justify the confidence overwhelmingly reposed in him by the people.

He also promised to lead by example and urged the permanent secretaries in all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to live up to expectations or be shown the way out.
