Gov Sani-Bello Approves Payment Of N200m To NECO For Release Of Niger State Students Results

BY ILIYASU GARBA, MINNA – The Niger State Government has sealed an agreement with the National Examination Commission (NECO) for the release of withheld  result of about 30,000 students that sat for examination in the state.

Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mrs. Mary Noel Berje, who announced this in a statement issued in Minna, explained that the state government has paid over N200million to NECO this year to offset part of the students’ examination fees. 

She the state government paid well over a billion Naira from 2017 to various examination bodies to date and will continue to provide free and compulsory basic education to all in the State.

The spokesperson of the governor added that the state government has agreed to pay NECO N50million monthly for the outstanding balance that accrued over the years.

According to Berje; “The state government has met with the officials of NECO. We have agreed in principles, after making some payments last week, that they will release the results this week.”

She expressed government’s commitment and effort towards revamping the education sector as one of its top priority and assured that it will not be compromised.
