In a move meant to rejig his administration’s intervention in some key areas, the Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum has dropped two commissioners from the State Executive Council.

A statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Dauda Iliya, on Thursday said the affected officials are the Commissioners for Environment, Engineer Emat Kois, and his counterpart in charge of Inter-governmental Affairs and Special Duties, Hon Tukur Ibrahim.

According to the statement, Governor Zulum, who expressed appreciation to the two officials, wished them the best in all their future endeavours.

To replace the two sacked Commissioners in the State Executive Council are Engineer Mohammed Habib and Ibrahim Hala Hassan.

In a related development, Governor Zulum has also approved the appointment of Professor Yusuf Gana Balami as the Executive Chairman of Borno State Secondary Education Board (BSSEB).

Balami, who is a Professor of Education Psychology, hails from Hawul, in the southern part of the state.

Having worked with Borno State Ministry of Education between 1984 and 1988, Balami later proceeded to the University of Maiduguri as graduate assistant and he became a professor in 2014.

As a member of several professional bodies, the Professor has authored countless publications as lead author or co-author.

While congratulating Professor Balami on his new appointment, the governor charged him to deploy his years of experience in the education sector, both as an administrator and an academic, to reshape the quality of secondary education in Borno.

This is as the Governor’s Spokesman also explained that all appointments have been communicated to the Borno State House of Assembly for consideration and confirmation.
