The Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has warned that now that the State is experiencing a desired level of security stability, he would not tolerate any attempt to instigate unrest or threaten the peace, the State is working hard to sustain.

Governor Alia, who gave the warning on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, condemned in very strong terms, the killing of two Igede youths along the Awajir-Oju road, and warned that the government will deal with anyone trying to foment trouble regardless of their status or intentions.

Security reports indicated that the two unarmed youths were traveling from Oju on their motorcycle when they were attacked and killed in cold blood.

Governor Alia also denounced a separate attack on Nyifon community in Mbaikyongo Ward of Buruku Local Government Area.

The incident was allegedly carried out by some youths from the Mbayaka community in Kusuv in Buruku Local Government Area following a misunderstanding linked to a boat mishap.

The Governor described the two incidents which happened separately in different Local Government Areas of the State as uncalled for and unfortunate.
