Guber Race: Power Belongs To Edo People – Gov Obaseki
Receives APC defectors in Egbedo
BY SEGUN ADEBAYO – The Edo State Governor and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flag-bearer, Godwin Obaseki, says power belongs to the Edo people and they will decide for themselves come September 19, 2020 gubernatorial election.
He has therefore urged all eligible voters in the South South state to turn out in huge numbers and cast their votes for the PDP to sustain the developmental strides of his administration.
Maintaining that power belongs to them, and not any particular individual or groups, Governor Obaseki said the election will be about the good; the bad; and the future of youths in Edo state.
Speaking while addressing PDP faithful at Ward 9 in Egbedo, Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of the State, the governor promised “to ensure every child in Edo will have a skill by the time they finish junior secondary school and be able to work.”
According to Governor Obaseki, “We have introduced the Edo Basic Education Sector Transformation (EDOBEST) programme from primary one to six and by next year we will focus on junior secondary schools, we will also focus on technical education to ensure our youths become effective and contribute to the development of the state.”
Giving insight of his stewardship in the last four years, Obaseki said: “When I entered Government House, I observed that the way roads were built in the past was not the best, so we changed the system.
He said at present, the government has put in place a culture of “maintenance mechanism to ensure the roads built by my administration stand the test of time.”
The PDP candidate also used the occasion to receive members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ward 9, Egbedo who defected to PDP and declared support for his re-election bid.
Leader of the group, Barrister Jimoh Dayo Musa, said they are joining the governor to rescue Edo State, adding that he will get their votes and support for performing and doing well for the people.
