Gunmen Abduct 7 In Taraba

BY AMEH IDUJAGI, JALINGO – SEVEN persons have reportedly been abducted in a renewed spate of attacks by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers along Jalingo-Wukari road in Taraba State
The victims, who are all from Ibbi local government area of the state, were returning from Jalingo, the State capital where they attended a welcome rally organised in honour of Governor Darius Ishaku Dickson.
An eye witness, Muhammed Ibrahim, who was inside another bus and narrowly escaped the attack, told Forefront news that they were in a convoy of about 10 vehicles all returning from Jalingo where they received Governor Ishaku at Jalingo Airport.
He said about six vehicles in the convoy had already passed before the bus, with registration number BBB 640 AA conveying the seven abducted persons, was halted by the gunmen between Sabongida and Danacha villages along Wukari-Jalingo road.
According to him, the other vehicles, on sighting the road block, quickly made U-turns and escaped from the danger zone, adding that the kidnappers took their victims at gunpoint into the Forest.
Ibrahim said that the abductors have already contacted families of the victims and put their demands at N100 million ransom.
When contacted, the spokesperson, Taraba State Police Command, DSP David Misal, said he was in Abuja currently on official assignment and therefore did not have details of the incident.
He however promised to provide further details on the attack when he gets the briefs officially.
