Gunmen Abduct Nursing Female Journalist in Yola, Adamawa State
BY AUSTIN AJAYI, YOLA – A female journalist working with the Adamawa State Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), Yola, Mrs Amra Ahmed Diska was in the early hours of Tuesday, kidnapped by unknown gunmen.
Mrs Diska, a nursing mother who resumed work recently after her maternity leave, was kidnapped from her home when her husband whom they requested for was not at home.
Checks indicate that the gunmen numbering about 15 with dangerous weapons invaded the residence of the victim situated at Mbamba in Yola South Local Government Area and whisked her away.
The kidnappers upon their arrival at the residence, broke the door leading to the sitting room and gained access into the bedroom and reportedly requested to know the whereabouts of the husband of the victim.
In the absence of the husband, the gunmen grabbed and took away Mrs Amra Ahmed Diska leaving behind her six-month-old baby.
Gunmen have in recent times been terrorising the people of Mbamba and Sabon Pegi where the Doctors Quarters is situated in Yola.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Adamawa Command, DSP Suleiman Ngorage said; “We have received the report of the Kidnapping of a female Journalist. We are working hard to get her released though they have not made any contact”.
As at the time of filling this report, a source close to the family of Ahmed Diska, said there has been no communication from the Kidnappers.
