Gunmen Attack Nasarawa Taskforce Leader On Convid-19
BY AHMED TUKUR, LAFIA – The Leader of Nasarawa State Taskforce on the prevention and sensitization of Corona Virus pandemic, Dr Ibrahim Adamu was Monday morning attacked by unknown gunmen.
Dr Ibrahim, who is the Director, Public Health at the State Ministry of Health, was traced to his residence at about 1.30am after holding several meetings on Sunday on how to mitigate the spread of coronavirus in the state.
Although the yet to be identified gunmen left without harming him or any member of his family, however, some valuables, including laptops that contained information and resolutions reached on how to sensitize members of the public and steps being taken to remedy critical situations.
Other valuables carted away include car keys, ATM cards and items belonging to members of his family.
The armed attackers armed shot sporadically into the air after spending 30 minutes to ransack the house and pointing gun at their victims throughout the period while threatening to shot anybody who attempt to escape.
Although Dr Ibrahim escaped unhurt, his family members were traumatized with gunshots and heavy sound of metals used in forcing the doors open.
Confirming the attack, the information officer with the Nasarawa State Ministry of Health, Abdullahi Ogoshi said that the gunmen broke into the house of Dr Ibrahim around 1:30am of Monday and carted away valuables worth millions of Naira.
According to Ogoshi; āSome gunmen numbering about six attacked the directorās house and gained entrance through the fence and broke the door and had access to his house.ā
āIt took them fifteen minutes to break the door after which they entered the house and pointed gun at him and took his laptops and ATM cards and threaten to kill him if the pin is not correct.ā
When our correspondent visited the house of Dr Ibrahim, sympathizers amongst whom was the Speaker of Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon Ibrahim Balarabe were seen consoling the family over the unfortunate incident.
The Speaker, who thanked God for saving their lives, urged the family to take heart and put everything behind them.
