Gunmen Kidnap Taraba State NLC Chairman, Peter Jediel
Dare devil gunmen suspected in the early hour of Sunady stormed the residence of Mr. Peter Jediel, Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Taraba State chapter and whisked him away to an unknown destination.
The NLC Chairman was believed to have been abducted at about 12;58am on Sunday from his residence situated in Sunkani, the headquarters of Ardo-Kola Local Government Area.
One of the junior brothers of Jediel, Boniface Stephen while confirming the ugly incident in a telephone interview, said that the gunmen shot sporadically into the air to scare residents before whisking Jediel away.
Stephen further said that the gunmen arrived the residence of Jediel in their number at about 12:00 am on Sunday, pull down his gate and entrance into his compound.
He said that for now, no call has come in from the abductors to know what their demands are.
When asked to comment on the development, the Taraba State Police Command Public Relations Officer, said he is yet to confirm the incident.
Jediel’s abduction is taking place barely a year after the former NLC chairman in the state, Peter Gambo was also abducted from his house.
Just few weeks ago, the Chairman of Ardo-Kola Local Government Area of Taraba State where Jediel hails from was abducted and later murdered by kidnappers.
