Hajj: FCT Minister Pledges More Support For Pilgrims Board

BY EVELYN DADU – The Minister of State, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr Mariya Mahmoud has assured that the current administration will continue to provide a first class welfare services to its contingents involved in the annual hajj exercises.

Accordingly, she said the administration has undertaken series of reforms to ensure that Nigerians partaking in the religious exercise through the FCT Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board (MPWB) get full value for their hard-earned money and be satisfied with the services rendered.

Mahmoud gave the assurance when the Director of the FCT MPWB, Mallam Kadiri Edah presented three certificates of recognition for the 2025 hajj exercise awarded to the Board by the Independent Hajj Reporters.

She said coming from a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that monitors hajj activities, the awards were testimonies of the effort by the Administration, through the MPWB, in providing best services to the pilgrims during Hajj operations every year.

She promised that the Board and other departments involved in the Hajj operations will continue to enjoy the Administration’s support
in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Also, the Minister said the FCT Administration will soon introduce new strategies to ensure the MPWB wins more awards of excellence in future Hajj operations through enhanced service delivery.

Presenting the three medals to the Minister, the MPWB’s Director, Mallam Kadiri Edah said they were as a result of the support enjoyed by the entire workforce of the Board from the Minister of FCT and the Minister of State throughout the 2025 Hajj exercise.

Edah said with the administration’s backing, the Board was also able to record the best Hajj exercise in 2025 despite the challenges peculiar to hajj operations.

He thereafter presented the three medals and the certificates of excellence to the Minister of State through the Chairman of the 2025 Hajj Ministerial Committee, Dr. Abdullahi Isah Kauranmanta.

It was also reported that three members of staff of the MPWB received recognition for their outstanding performance during the last Hajj exercise.

The recipients’ list has the Board’s Director, Mallam Kadiri Edah who got the Best Service Oriented Pilgrims’ Board Executive Award during the 2025 Hajj exercise; the MPWB’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mohammed Lawal Aliyu and Head of ICT Unit, Na’Allah Ado honoured for their meritorious service to FCT Pilgrims throughout the Hajj exercise in their various fields.
