Hardship: Tinubu Not Bothered By ‘T-Pain’ Label – Onanuga Says
The presidency on Sunday, October 27, 2024, said that the trending name T-pain being ascribed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by App users remains a non-issue since the President does not read social media contents.
Mr Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Information and Strategy, who stated this when he featured on Channels Television programme; ‘Sunday Politics’ said that Tinubu is not “T-pain”.
“T-pain” in Nigeria’s social media space was coined from “Tinubu” and “pain”, which is now been deployed as the president’s moniker as a result of the pervasive economic hardship across the nation believed to have been occasioned by his policies.
Onanuga said though Tinubu’s policies may have attendant hardship, the aim he explained is to reform the economy, adding that the President is aware that the citizens are going through some difficulties.
Onanuga specifically said that President Tinubu does not read what is on the social media, saying that even though some people have also responded by calling him different names, such is a non-issue.
He said; “Some people out of mischief just say somebody is a T-pain. He (Tinubu) is not T-pain. The president has never shied away from telling Nigerians that he feels their pain and he is working very hard to make sure that he gives them some relief so that things will get better and this country will get more prosperity.
“We are experiencing economic growth, despite inflation, revenues have increased,” he said.
