BY ADEYEMI AKANJI, BAUCHI – Parents of nine trafficked children in Bauchi State have sent passionate appeal to Governor Bala Mohammed and his Wife, Hajiya Aisha to as a matter of urgency, intervene and help them rescue their children from captivity.

The parents of the victims included; Turaki Dansa, Chawa Dangaladima Turaki, Kori Guyina, Shehu Shanaki, Bawa Turaki, Adamu Shamaki and Awal Musa who collectively made the appeal while speaking to Journalists at the NUJ Press Centre, Bauchi on Wednesday.

Spokesperson of the group, Musa Kwana, who is also the traditional ruler of the community, said that unless the Governor and his wife intervene, they may never set their eyes on their children again.

The names the trafficked and abducted children included; Sangi Turaki, Cikawa Turaki, Danjuma Turaki, Yangawa Dogo Talangu, Bebi Bawa, Jumolo Dangaladima, Kangaya Kori, Jummai Adamu and Alti Shehu all of Miya Village in Ganjuwa local government area of Bauchi State.

The parents said the suspects of the trafficking and abduction are Pastor Joseph Babanzayo, Pastor Musa Wanda aka Madugu and Bello Bagai, adding that the money so far extorted from them in the name of rescuing their children amounted to N470,000.00.

The parents lamented that what started as a religious trust, turned out to become betrayal and outright act of premeditated crime and inhuman action.

The Spokesperson said; “Now that we have tried everything humanly possible for several months since the incident happened in 2014 and could not get a positive result, we want the Governor and his wife to step in and wipe our tears. We want to see our children.

“Three of the children have been rescued in Porth Harcourt, Rivers State where they were sold to by the abductors. They are presently with the NAPTIP office there. We want to know the whereabouts of the other six.

“We went to Port Harcourt, spent 4 days but did not see the children. We don’t understand what is happening, the Police is not telling us the truth about the situation. We believe that as soon as the Governor intervenes, things will change.

“Only One of the suspects has been arrested and in the custody of the Bauchi State Police command. We are wondering why others are not yet arrested,” he said.
