Herdsmen Attack Otukpo Community In Benue State
In their desperate and continuous assault on communities in Benue State, armed herdsmen have again invaded and attacked another community in the state.
The incidence believed to have taken place on Saturday, April 5, 2025 in Otobi community situated in the Otukpo Local Government Area of the state, forced residents to flee their homes.
Otobi is the ancestral home of former President of the Senate, Senator David Mark, who is also a retired Brigadier-General in the Nigerian Army.
It was gathered that residents and villagers of the community presently under attacks, are now moving out in droves from their homes.
An eye witness account said that the armed herdsmen were shooting at residents of Otobi in Otukpo LGA Benue State, adding that one of the residents was killed last night as the marauders went about the community shooting.
The source said; “They have promised to attack again tonight. Villagers are evacuating. There is panic everywhere”.
The insecurity situation in the State is becoming alarming in recent weeks in spite of the efforts of the Governor Hyacinth Alia-led Government to tame the situation.
It was gathered that Governor Alia is leaving no stone unturned as he moves round the three senatorial districts of the State on weekly basis to study and nip in the bud flash points areas.
Spokesperson of the Benue State Police command, SP Anene Sewuese Catherine, confirmed the attack and assured that more details would be provided in due course.
