Worried by recent security breaches and killings by suspected herdsmen in some Benue communities, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has suspended indefinitely the 2017 Batch ‘B’ stream II orientation course slated for Benue state between January 16 and February 5, 2018.
The announcement, carried on the NYSC’s official Facebook page in Abuja on Sunday, said the exercise is suspended till further notice.
Accordingly, the Scheme said a new date would be communicated in due course to all prospective corps members deployed to Benue state for the orientation.
The statement read; “The NYSC management wishes to inform all prospective corps members deployed to Benue and Taraba states that the 2017 Batch ‘B’ Stream II orientation course scheduled to hold in Benue camp has been suspended.
“A new date will be communicated to you in due course. All inconveniences are highly regrettable.”
Before this current development, the NYSC had issued a statement that the 2017 Batch ‘B’ Stream II orientation course would be holding in only 15 camps across the country.
These include Abia, Bauchi, Benue, Delta, Enugu, Sokoto, and Jigawa states. Others are Kaduna, Katsina, Plateau, Lagos, Osun, Oyo, Rivers and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
