Homicide: Court Remands Osinachi’s Husband In Correctional Facility

A High Court o the Federal Capital Territory sitting in Wuse District of Abuja on Friday remanded Peter Nwachukwu, the husband of the late gospel singer, Osinachi, in the Kuje Correctional Facility.
Nwachukwu is to remain in prison pending the hearing and determination of the homicide-related suit instituted against him by the Attorney General of the Federation.
In the suit, the Federal Government through the Attorney General of the Federation said that Nwachukwu contravened Sections 104 and 379 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015, Section 221 of the Penal Code, and the Violence Against Person’s Prohibition Act (VAPP) 2015. (Channels TV)
The Court presided over by Justice Njideka Nwosu-Iheme gave the order after Nwachukwu entered a plea of “not guilty” to the 23 count charge bordering on domestic violence and homicide among others.
The trial judge also ordered that the accused should remain at the correctional facility and adjourned the trial to June 16 and June 17, 2022.
Osinachi, gospel singer died on April 8, 2022 following which many of her friends and relatives accused her husband, Mr. Peter Nwachukwu of subjecting her to domestic violence which eventually led to her death.
Accordingly, the Nigeria police swift into action and arrested Nwachukwu over the death of the gospel singer and has been in detention since his arrest.
