Hurray! It’s All Smiles For Buhari’s Trekking Man, Dahiru Buba

• As Gombe Gov showers APC loyalist with car gift, N2m cash

BY ADEYEMI AKANJI, GOMBE – It is indeed the dawning of a new day for Dahiru Buba, the 50-year old native of Dukku Local Government Area of Gombe State who trekked from Gombe to Abuja in celebration of President Muhammadu Buhari’s victory in the 2015 general election

Dahiru, whose recent public alarm about his limb ailment got the attention of Gombe state Governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya and subsequently medical intervention, is now all smiles savouring a new lease of life.

Thanks to Governor Yahaya’s kind gesture, the diehard APC supporter is now a proud owner of Ford Galaxy (Sharon) Car and princely sum of N2 million cash.

Governor Yahaya, who presented the gifts to Dahiru at Gombe Governor’s Lodge in Abuja, said; “For taking the pains and risks to show solidarity with Mr. President and our great party, people like Buba should not be neglected.

According to the Governor; “By embarking on that solidarity trek, Dahiru Buba had shown patriotism and support, he should therefore be appreciated and encouraged”.

He further said; “So on learning about his condition, first I directed that he should be taken to the hospital for proper medical attention and I am happy that he is now better after undergoing his first round of treatment.

“Secondly, we are now capping it up with support that hopefully can sustain him. Since he is a Driver, we are giving him this Ford Galaxy Sharon so he can use it as commercial transport vehicle to sustain his livelihood. We are also giving him the sum of N2 million cash to enable him purchase a house within his locality since I learnt he is a tenant.

“So as far as we are concerned in APC and in this administration, no genuine effort or sacrifice will go unrewarded, no matter how long it takes.”

“On behalf of our dear President and our beloved party, we say a big thank you for your show of support and solidarity”, the Governor said.

In his response, a visibly elated Dahiru expressed appreciation to Mr President and the for recognising him and coming to his aid.

He said even with his earlier challenges after he returned from his 15 day journey, his spirit had never been dampened in his love for the President and his party.

Dahiru promised to use the vehicle and the money judiciously, saying the gesture has truly motivated and spurred him to do more as a loyal party man.

A statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity to the Governor, also quoted Dahiru as saying that the gesture had further strengthen his place as the family’s breadwinner.

Dahiru, a commercial driver, was accompanied to the Gombe Governor’s Lodge in Abuja by member representing Dukku North Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Nasiru Abdulkarim and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Legislative Matters, Hon. Hamma- Adama Dottuwa Ali Kumo as well as other Assembly members and APC stalwarts.

The media was recently awash with the story of Dahiru appealing for assistance from the Government and public spirited individuals to treat his limb complications arising from the solidarity trek he undertook to celebrate President Buhari’s first term victory.

Responding to his cry for help, Governor Inuwa Yahaya directed that Dahiru be taken to the Government House clinic for diagnosis from where he was referred to a private orthopedic hospital for thorough examination and treatment.
