BY ADEYEMI AKANJI, BAUCHI – A gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi state, Air Marshal Saddique Baba Abubakar (rted), has dissociated himself from a purported court action against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in which his name was included as one of the plaintiffs.

Reacting to the story published by The Telegraph, Abubakar, who was Chief of Air Staff before his appointment as Ambassador, described the inclusion of his name in the suit as malicious and a deliberate effort to ridicule him and jeopardize his rising political popularity.

Abubakar, who denied the publication through his director, Media and Publicity of his Campaign Council, Salisu Barau said he was surprised to read the said publication.

According to him; “We just woke up to read the publication by New Telegraph that Ambassador Saddique Baba Abubakar and two others have dragged INEC to a Federal High Court in Abuja seeking to stop it from disqualifying them. This is not true.

“Ambassador Abubakar is a distinguish personality who served the country meritoriously as an Air Force Officer and ended his career with distinction. As an Ambassador, he served very well and voluntarily resigned in order to pursue his political career”.

He therefore described the story as baseless, untrue, unsubstantiated, malicious and the figment of the imagination of the rumor peddlers who are not comfortable with the rising political status of Amb. Abubakar.

Barau urged his teeming supporters to disregard the story saying that Ambassador Abubakar cannot and will not join such issues because his main focus is his gubernatorial aspiration.

According to him; “Our focus is how to clinch the APC gubernatorial ticket during the party primaries. He is one person who can administer Bauchi State better, I am calling on the delegates to cast their votes for him and also during the actual election in 2023”.
