Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has faulted insinuations in certain quarters and some media reports to the effect that he purportedly endorsed the 2023 presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu during his (Tinubu) visit to his Abeokuta residence last week Wednesday.

Obasanjo, who stated this on Saturday in a statement by his Special Assistant on media, Kehinde Akinyemi, stressed that the statements coming from those claiming to be supporters of Tinubu were unhelpful.

The former president said that the discussion during Tinubu’s visit was “more brotherly than political”.

Obasanjo pointedly said that he neither agreed nor disapproved of Tinubu’s ‘request’, stressing that those claiming to be insiders at the meeting issuing statement on the discussion and those crediting to him statement he had not made are enemies of the visitor.

He further said; “They are not doing the visit any good”. Tinubu visited former President Obasanjo at the penthouse residence Library on Wednesday August 17, 2022.
