I Remain Focused On Delivering On My Mandate Not 2023 – Tambuwal Says
BY VICTOR BUORO, ABUJA – Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State has said that he has not declared intention to contest the 2023 presidential elections.
Tambuwal in a statement by his Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Mohammed Bello said that that delivering on the mandate given to him by the good people of Sokoto State is his major focus and preoccupation at the moment.
The statement laid to rest the speculations that the Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum has commenced preparations for 2023 presidential race. Tambuwal said that the challenges occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic makes it imperative to fully concentrate on governance to ensure a return to normalcy.
The statement further states; “Tambuwal has not declared his political intention. So, the news about his running for the highest political office is a figment of the imagination of some overzealous social media activists.”
The Sokoto State Governor pointedly dissociated himself from what he described as “fabricated misinformation and misleading” reportage.
The statement also said that Governor Tambuwal as the Chairman of PDP Governors Forum is a major actor in the successes of the party at national level, including the recent PDP victory in the governorship poll in Edo State.
“He is also the Vice Chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF). His high political profile in the country has led to his being favored in many quarters for a successful bid in the next presidential elections.
“But so far, Tambuwal has remained circumspect about his plans, focusing his attention instead on development projects and programs in Sokoto State”.
