Freed Comfort Emmanson, the lady at the centre of the recent altercation with a staff of Ibom Air on her way from Uyo to Lagos, has said that she is in severe pains owing to her manhandling thus needed medical treatment.

Comfort Emmanson, who took to her Instagram on Wednesday shortly after her release from detention in Kirikiri prison, said in an emotional tone, that all she needs now is rest from the pains inflicted on her as a result of how she was treated.

In the words of Ms Emmanson; “I want to sincerely thank Nigerians for their prayers and support during my ordeal. “I’ve been released from the prison, but I’m still in pains due to how I was treated.

“I just need some rest and medical treatment before I give out my own version of the event.

Thank you so much, my lovely friends and supporters. I really appreciate y’all from the bottom of my heart. God bless y’all. THANK YOU MY GREAT GOD!!!”

Comfort Emmanson’s arrest and detention at the Kirikiri prison followed an incident aboard an Ibom Air flight from Uyo to Lagos on Sunday, August 10, 2025, during which she was accused of assaulting a crew member.

The conflict led to her being stripped publicly, arraigned in court, and remanded in prison, a development that sparked public outrage and accusations of double standards in Nigeria’s justice system.

However, after days of mounted pressure from the Nigerian Bar Association, civil society organisations, human rights groups, public figures, and Women’s Forum — which condemned what they described as “degrading treatment” meted on Comfort Emmanson, the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo directed the withdrawal of the case filed against her as the minister said that Emmanson had expressed “great remorse” during a statement she made to the police conducted in the presence of her lawyer.

Comfort Emmanson, who was released on Wednesday, assured that she will give her side of the story of the event that led her to remand in prison after she must have recovered physically and emotionally from the trauma.
