Ichemati: Changing The Narrative Of Youth In Governance
“For thinkers, leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality. The mayor of Port Harcourt, through the law school grant, has birthed a new dawn for some of the beneficiaries whose dreams of law school could have been stalled or eluded”.

The 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, is credited with saying that nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power.
This quote is deep, as it suggests that the true inert attitude of men is yet unknown until they have unfiltered access to power and money.
In the last two months of being in the saddle of leadership of the Port Harcourt City local government, Hon. Ezebunwo Ichemati has exemplified leadership with character and competence to be entrusted with power and affluence.
Beyond his abilities to manage the leadership clout, Hon. Ichemati has proven the Kenyan politician, Mwai Kibaki, right, wherein he held that leadership is a privilege to better the lives of others. It is not an opportunity to satisfy personal greed.
Despite being a newcomer to holding political appointments, the young Mayor of Port Harcourt Local Government has set a standard of leadership that is trailblazing the leadership in the local government area.
For a young politician who has myriad wants and needs, many would concentrate on serving their greed while the needs of the people suffer, but Hon. Ichemati has shown selfless leadership by placing the people above his personal yearnings and desires.
Just barely three weeks after over 100 people from the Port Harcourt City Local Government benefited from the over 100 million naira empowerment program, the first of its kind and all-encompassing, Hon. Ichemati has yet again set another leadership mark by rolling out an over 10 million naira grant for law school students.
Away from the law school grant, recognising the financial implications of attending the bar conference, Hon. Ichemati is sponsoring 50 lawyers for this year’s bar conference. An act that demonstrates his practical commitment to improving the professional efficiency of the legal community.
For thinkers, leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality. The mayor of Port Harcourt, through the law school grant, has birthed a new dawn for some of the beneficiaries whose dreams of law school could have been stalled or eluded.
Like the Deputy Director-General of Dr. Nabo Graham Douglas Law School, Port Harcourt, Uzodinma Mmuozoba succinctly declared during the grant award ceremony, generosity is not the product of a large pocket, but generosity is the product of a good heart.
The receipts abound that the Mayor of Port Harcourt has demonstrated conspicuous selfless service to humankind.
Conclusively, it is sufficient to say that the Mayor of Port Harcourt, Hon. Ezebunwo Ichemati, is an intentional leader who is people-orientated, and there is no doubt that today and posterity will be kind to his name as he takes the Port Harcourt City Local Government to an enviable height.
