IGP Assures Hitch-free 59th Independence Anniversary Celebrations

BY GRACE ANYANWU, ABUJA – As Nigeria marks her 59th Independence Anniversary on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu has assured Nigerians of hitch-free celebrations in all States of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Accordingly, the IGP has directed all Commissioners of Police and their supervisory Assistant Inspectors-General of Police in the State and Zonal Commands across the country to emplace necessary security measures towards a peaceful and incident-free celebration.

Adamu also directed that particular attention should be concentrated on Parade Grounds, Government/Private infrastructure and all places of public resort and recreation centres.

A statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Frank Mba, stated that IGP Adamu also directed the Commissioners and AIGs to intensify patrols along all the major highways in the country. 

Mba said that IGP Adamu heartily congratulates President Muhammadu Buhari and the entire people of Nigeria, on the nation’s 59th Independence Anniversary as well as salutes the courage and determination of Nigerians to build and sustain a strong, united and secure nation, despite of our challenges.
