Ikimi-led PDP Disciplinary Committee Summons Wike To Appear Before It
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Disciplinary Committee has summoned Mr Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to answer question bordering on anti-party activities.
This was disclosed on Monday, September 2, 2024 by Mr Ibrahim Abdullahi, Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the Party when he featured on Channels Television programme, Sunrise Daily.
According to Abdullahi, the disciplinary committee will look into issues of anti-party activities against the immediate past Governor of Rivers State.
Abdullahi said Wike has been formally summoned to appear before the Chief Tom Ikimi-led PDP disciplinary committee set up by the Party’s National Working Committee (NWC).
He said; “Three weeks ago, we put up two committees in place; that of reconciliation and discipline and Nyesom Wike is one of the persons to face the disciplinary committee, which is headed by elder statesman, Chief Tom Ikimi.
“We have been receiving petitions regarding anti-party activities or sabotaging the party throughout the primary, leading to where we are now. These petitions against Wike and other party members have been aggregated and sent to the committee.
“Some party members even felt that Wike shouldn’t have gotten to this level as a member of the PDP and they have been writing to the leadership.”
Abdullahi particularly said that Wike’s threat of “putting fire in PDP Governors states” over Rivers PDP was wrong and totally unacceptable.
Wike had at last weekend vowed to cause trouble for any of the PDP Governors who meddles in the face-off and struggle for control of the structures of the PDP in Rivers State between him and his successor, Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
In the words of Abdullahi; “Wike should be able to manage his words carefully. That was a very disappointing remark. We were not expecting him to say that and to be honest with you, we are not with him on that.”
